02. Box N Locks - MPHO

MPHO ("mphooo") breaks on to the scene with this catchy first single. Great lyrics too.

03. Mama Do (D'Naeo Edit) - Pixie Lott

Casting Amy Winehouse comparisons aside, this remix makes for a fun bongo number.

Recorded in 2007, this beautiful song is finally released, showing again that Ró can do no wrong.

Shakira is always better in Spanish than in English. This song is so addictive! Already one of my most played.

Originally recorded by Róisín Murphy, the song was too poppy for her. Thank god Sophie recorded it, it's perfect for her sound.

La Roux is burning up the UK Charts and this song is another great track, not as shrill as their previous singles.

I hated this song at first but it's just too catchy to resist!

Brand new track from a new UK girl group. They really churn them out across the pond, eh?

Sanno Solavas is Rafael Lelis' pseudoname. Probably b/c "Heartbeat" will never be released as a single. I didn't care much for the original but again this track exemplifies the wonders of the remix.

I cannot get enough of Little Boots! Dancing should be everyone's remedy :)

14. On My Shoulders (WILDLIFE! Remix) - The Dø

Never did I imagine I would enjoy a remix of this, especially since I fell in love with the haunting original (on RMV20), but here I am with my foot in my mouth.

This song is one of my most played, and my personal anthem moving forward.

Although my music tastes tend to fall on the pop / house side I do enjoy my fair share of hip-hop. It must come from Hema & Aarti, my best friends in college who definitely enjoy their "dirty south" music. Anyway, this mix here is definitely rooted in hip-hop & r&b. Ci-Ci samples A.R. Rahman (Slumdog Millionaire) and it works. As much as I like the original, this is quite enjoyable as well. Too bad it probably won't be a single due to Chris Brown's current infamity.

My cousins are really into Jesse McCartney. I never took notice (except for that awesome MSTRKRFT Remix of Leavin' on RMSE: Please Don't Stop the Music) until this track. I think it's Luda that makes it work for me.

Lil Wayne is on every track out there so its inevitable the brown kids get in on it. Cute song.

This is a special mix I made for Patrick Sandora's blog. Pat is a friend of mine that asked me to guest blog as part of his Summer Friday Series. 03. Wrong (Rauhofer Mix) - Depeche Mode - Peter Rauhofer turns it out. WORK.

RMV24: Electronic Poet

First of all, sorry all of the Ru-Mixes are coming out of order... the truth is I made the covers before the mixes were ready. Also, wanted to apologize for sending so much out so quickly - When I took the break I was still making my mixes for myself and I still want to share - want to make sure I send it out before it gets (too) stale.

Anyway, here we have a mix that's more in the same vein of Movie Star, but brings it to a whole different level. If you're a fan of acoustic guitars, soft sounds, breathy vocals - this mix is NOT for you. As the title implies all the songs have an electronic touch and some of them have been ripped apart and are barely recognizeable from their non-remixed original versions. I LOVE this mix. It's dark, dirty, poppy, and glam all at the same time. I live for it at the gym, at home when I'm getting ready, driving around (when I do)... etc. I hope you guys enjoy it as much as I do!

Oh boy, Bollywood music was quite depressing as of late, fortunately I've been able to quite a few tracks over the last 2 years... that will help you have a rocking bollywood party, or at least if you want to just dance around mad in your bedrooom :) The beginning of the mix is definitely more traditional, colorful Bollywood fare, while halfway thru the "club mixes" creep up to keep you moving. Overall it's a fun mix... If anyone is in NYC I'll be at Sholay next week hopefully dancing to some of these tunes - come by if you're ready to DANCE :)

Clearly if you look at the tracklist below this mix isnt' for everyone, hence the "Special edition" moniker. This mix is definitely heavy on beats (if the 10 minute opening track is any indication) but it's a really fun party mix or for the gym. I like it because it starts on the darker side and then get's bubbly and poppy towards the end. It's a bit on the long side (over 2 hrs long) but if you have the time definitely give it a listen from beginning to end I think it flows well and will definitely get your booty shaking. Have fun kids, this mix is one of my favorites! Comments always appreciated.

RMV19: I Want Those Flashing Lights

I've been working on an "American" mix since RMV15... a lot of people have complained that the past few mixes were a little too Europop for their taste so here's a mix featuring mostly American artists. Unfortunately I am not finding most of the American pop/r&b fare inspiring so some of these songs may be "old" (they're still fresh but I doubt this is the first time you're hearing them). Some of these songs have been on rotation on my iPod since October of 2007. Sorry I'm just getting them to you now but its better late than never! Anyway, this time I'm back with a "chill" mix. I've been listening to it for a while now and I'm really digging it. Its just a little bit under 2hours long so its perfect background music while entertaining, hanging out etc. It's quite soothing on the subway as well.

The title track has two versions, the album version and the Kleerup (of "With Every Heartbeat" fame) remix... make sure your iPod is set to "gapless" playback and it will blend the two into a perfect, "happy ending." Because we all really need one... (I was a little down while making this mix so I apologize for its shades of melancholy). Hey all, its been a while, time for a new Ru-Mix! As many of you know, I spent the last month in Europe and I had an amazing time, the best part being exposed to all sorts of new music! I fell in love with Paris so we have a dash of French Pop on the new mix with a whole lot of new favorites on RMV15.1: Nouveaux Intrus. It's been a while since I made an all out dance mix, so here we go with GLAM. This is one of my favorite mixes since RMV7. Hopefully you guys are as excited about it as I am. Highlights include the Fallout Boy track, a whole lot of hot Timbaland, amazing Beyoncé mixes (seriously, the best i've heard) and a section that's totally influenced with desi beats. Some of the remixes might be a little heavy (like the She's my Man mix -- very nasty!) but if you listen to it in order it kind of puts you in the right mood ;)
